I'm going to scare some people right now......
Photobucket

Today I received a hand-written envelope from Mark and Kathy Jackson (?). I have no clue who they are, but they somehow knew the address to my new home and were kind enough to mail me not only info on how Jesus can save me, but also how Mormons and Jews are deceiving and to beware of them. They actually referred to them as cults. You see, this right here is one of my main problems with not only the Christian devotion, but religions in general. I’ve come across countless religious individuals who marvel at the chance to brag about how Christ-like and distinguished they are while simultaneously bashing other religions or outsiders. And if you’re not a Christian, well, pray that God will save you one day or you will have one hell (no pun intended) of an eternity!

I’m not certain if I’ve ever met a person who was an authentic follower of Christ. The Christian religion declares their people to be impressionists of Christ, if you didn’t know. That would mean, loving everyone (including sinners) and being the best person you can be (no gossip!). I’m sure Jesus would be ashamed of 98% of you out there. Most of you are bigger hypocrites than the rest of us! At least the majority of us will admit to our faults and face up to the consequences of our actions instead of asking for forgiveness and then living guilt-free because we’ve been forgiven. How disgusting! This is why many murderers feel okay about themselves after ruining countless family’s and people’s lives (Berkowitz for example). He’s been forgiven by Christ!

Best set of imagery EVER. Do you know what the 1st is from/about?

SUCH good points regarding how much people can suck. I'm really sick of it all.

Ah, I wish I knew for a fact. I think it may be from the book "On Ugliness" by Umberto Eco. It's such an amazing book. You should check it out!

Is that the one that has the painting of the lady sprawled across the bed with that goblin thing sitting on her chest? I saw that painting when I was a kid and it TERRIFIED me for months.

Aw I know plenty of authentic followers of Christ.
And as what you call "imressionists" of Christ means we are following his example - we are trying to be kind people. We however are not alwya perfect. And we repent for it we are very aware of our flaws. We are equal to that of athiests we are just striving to be more like Christ.
And murderers who murder and think they have "got away with it" are not genuinely sorry clearly and get away with nothing.

If you guys believe in equality so much, why do you feel the need to vote against equal rights? (prop 8)

And no, I would not say that most Christians feel they are equal to athiests. I grew up in an atheist family and we were disincluded from many family events that were with Christian families only. These were BBQ's, pool parties, etc. that for some reason we just weren't invited to. That is one of many, many examples I could give of course.

My point with Mormonism is who saw the supposed "golden tablets" that John Smith was given by the angel and the decoder stone he used to decode them with. And then these tablets were whisked away by the angel right after the decoding. Wasn't that just convenient?
Decoder stone.....now in your cereal box today!

The other thing I have a problem with is time.
Why is time delineated into B.C. Before Christ and AD After Death of Christ?
Whose idea was that?

Buddha was a real person.
And if all of the "Christians" are so sure that they are right, then everyone else would be wrong.

Even people like myself who are pagan and believe in the God and Goddess and celebrate the original holidays as they were meant to before they were "Christianized"

I understand your post and definitely can understand and agree with you on it.
That's my 2 cents there.

I think Mormonism is equally ridiculous. Actually, I think they are far more ridiculous once you learn the background of their beliefs.

I wouldn't have a problem with religions if they embraced and accepted others differences, but they don't. Instead they shove down our face why other people's beliefs are wrong. This has been the cause of 99% of all wars throughout history and the reason there is still so much segregation between our mankind. It's horrible.

You are 100% correct. I don't think people should try and shove their beliefs down people's throats and then also condemn everyone else for their own beliefs.

Sneeze superstition
[info]dancingeyes_

I was researching this on the net and I thought I would give you some info if you weren't aware of it already.
Achoo.....Bless You.....here is where that comes from.

The custom of saying "God bless you" after a sneeze was begun literally as a blessing. Pope Gregory the Great (540-604 AD) ascended to the Papacy just in time for the start of the plague (his successor succumbed to it). Gregory (who also invented the ever-popular Gregorian chant) called for litanies, processions and unceasing prayer for God's help and intercession. Columns marched through the streets chanting, "Kyrie Eleison" (Greek for "Lord have mercy"). When someone sneezed, they were immediately blessed ("God bless you!") in the hope that they would not subsequently develop the plague. All that prayer apparently worked, judging by how quickly the plague of 590 AD diminished.

The connection of sneezing to the plague is not the first association of sneezing with death. According to Man, Myth, and Magic: The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Mythology, Religion and the Unknown, many cultures, even some in Europe, believe that sneezing expels the soul--the "breath of life"--from the body. That doesn't seem too far-fetched when you realize that sneezing can send tiny particles speeding out of your nose at up to 100 miles per hour!

There are many superstitions regarding sneezing, some of which you've already listed. But here are some of my favorites.

Sneeze on Monday for health,
Sneeze on Tuesday for wealth,
Sneeze on Wednesday for a letter,
Sneeze on Thursday for something better,
Sneeze on Friday for sorrow,
Sneeze on Saturday, see your sweetheart tomorrow,
Sneeze on Sunday, safety seek.

One for sorrow
Two for joy
Three for a letter
Four for a boy.
Five for silver
Six for gold
Seven for a secret, never to be told.
