Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend  Next Entry
Something terrible happened yesterday evening.
I received a phone call from David yesterday evening from a hospital. His left middle finger had gotten smashed between two crates while helping a friend's dad at his warehouse. The top segment of his finger came off and they weren't able to repair it. He lost the top segment of his finger......

He's such a trooper, but of course this is extremely upsetting. My dad said it perfectly: "We're born perfect, then life continuously fucks our bodies up a little more each time until our body eventually gives up and we die". I'm trying to tell David that he's a true warrior now and it adds character and an interesting story to his life. I mean, at this point, we have to try to be positive because there's nothing that can be done. He's still just as beautiful as ever though. I hope he realizes that.

That's terrible. I hope that's able to stay positive. It could have been much worse, but it never helps to say that to somebody after something bad has happened.

So sorry to hear about your friend.
I know he will overcome this small obstacle.

Jerry Garcia lost part of his finger in an accident as a child and look at all the beautiful music he was able to play in his time.
It's definitely not the end of the world.
I've always believed that it's that overcoming things is what helps us.
The old adage what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Thanks, you're so right. I didn't know that about Jerry Garcia. It's good hearing success stories during this time.

Oh no that is awful! Poor David. He definitely is a trooper. How is he doing now?

He's okay. He has his first follow-up app. tomorrow where they will unwrap his hand and he'll get to see what his finger looks like. I'm unfortunately teaching at that time, so I cannot be there for him.
